Bearded dragon morphs

Bearded Dragon Morphs!

Hi guys, as the years go on more morphs are being created in the Bearded Dragon world.
I`m a small private breeder of these amazing creatures and work with morphs to be able to bring gorgeous colours to the market at affordable prices.
In this blog i will put together a easy Morph guide.

How to reconise a morph?

There are a few morphs which you can visually see by looking at a Bearded Dragon ie:
  • Hypo
  • Translucent
  • Leatherback
  • Silkback
  • Dunner
Here i will post a little about what each visual trait is.

Hypo - hypomelanism - Lack of black pigment, Lighter in colour, Clear nails instead of black.
Translucent - Lack of white pigment, Blue bellies (See-Through), Solid back eyes.
Leatherback - Smoother scales then a normal Bearded Dragon also less side spikes.
Silkback - No scales at all, feels like a babies bum.
Dunner - Scales run in circles, so no matter where you stroke them they will feel more spikey.

Here are some of my own/pass Bearded Dragons.
Rosie(RIP) Hypo Citrus Tiger
Lexi - Red x Citrus Leatherback het hypo het trans
Picassa - Red x Citrus dunner poss het hypo
Scarlet - Red x coral translucent poss het hypo

Ziggy - Red x Super Orange Silkback (Owned By Adam Cowie)

Now i bet your wondering what all the Het trans etc is all about?
Well there is het trans and het hypo which basically carries the gene but doesn't t visually show it, and to know whether your dragon is a het you will need knowledge of parents or certificate.

Heres some simple genetics.
Hypo
Hypo x Normal = 100% Het Hypo
Hypo x Hypo = 100% Hypo
Hypo x Het Hypo = 50% Het Hypo 50% Hypo
Het Hypo x Het Hypo = 50% Het Hypo 25% Hypo 25% Normal - too be called 66.6% poss Het Hypo
Het Hypo x Normal = 50% Het Hypo 50% Normal - to be called 50% poss Het Hypo

Translucent
Trans x Normal = 100% Het Trans
Trans x Trans = 100% Trans
Trans x Het Trans = 50% Het Trans 50% Trans
Het Trans x Het Trans = 50% Het Trans 25% Trans 25% Normal - to be called 66.6% poss Het Trans
Het Trans x Normal = 50% Het Trans 50% Normal - to be called 50% poss Het Trans

Leatherback
leatherback x normal = 50% leather 50% normal
leather x leather = 25% normal 50% leather 25% silk
